In November of 2003, Chicago lost an icon Irv Kupcinet. Nicknamed “Mr. Chicago”, Kup was a friend to presidents and the Hollywood elite. For 50 years, he conducted the annual Purple Heart outings for wounded veterans. As his library has been dispersed, the Pritzker Military Library has been honored to receive history titles from his collection and plaques and awards received in his service to veterans.
World War II Holdings
The section on World War II keeps filling out, particularly after magnificent gifts from Robert Baldridge and Lt. COL Robert C. Peithman. Dr. Jerry Field, of
IIT
, has also become a wonderful friend to the library with his gifts and support. Daniel Blewett from the
College
of
DuPage
continues to think of the library with regular surprises in the mail. Bryan Mark Rigg's best students have sent copies of their dissertations from their research course at the
American
Military
University
.
