Held in Grant Park, Chicago, September 2-15, 1918, this War Exposition aimed to drum up public support of World War I. There were mock battles, parades, and exhibits of art. President Woodrow Wilson was slated to appear. It was subtitled, “How the Mighty Have Fallen” – rather presumptuous for a war that had not yet ended. The State Council on Defense reported attendance of 1,955,602, and all fees charged for entry were to be turned over to the federal government. This War Exposition traveled throughout the United States.
